Forbes ranks Blacksburg among
top 25 best places to retire

Montgomery County, Virginia - Forbes magazine has picked Blacksburg as one of the 25 best places in the country to retire in 2014. The business publication noted several attributes that make Blacksburg an attractive place, including its strong economy, cost of living, average home price, mild climate, low crime and being a college town (Virginia Tech).
To come up with the best 25, Forbes sifted data on more than 400 cities from every state. The major factors taken into account included current and future economic prosperity, physical as well as economic security, cost-of-living, home prices and general state tax climates for retirees.
Forbes’ analysis also examined negative attributes of the top 25. Blacksburg was one of only four places on the list had “none” mentioned. The other three places included Brevard, NC; Clemson, SC; and Fredericksburg. TX.
