Blacksburg named “Best Affordable Mountain Town
for Retirement.”

U.S. News & World Report named Blacksburg, VA on its 2010 list of the ten “Best Affordable Mountain Towns for Retirement.” To compile the list, U.S. News and World Report looked for places that offered “access to plenty of skiing, trails, and wildlife, while still providing affordable housing and a reasonable cost of living.” They also considered other characteristics, including “access to healthcare and a low crime rate.” Blacksburg rated well using these criteria for its “high level of amenities at affordable prices.”
