Economic Development Authority (EDA) 

The Economic Development Authority of Montgomery County, Virginia (Authority), was created by ordinance of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors on January 21, 1970.   The Authority is a separate and distinct legal entity established to perform a constitutional public purpose. The Authority is permitted to acquire, own, lease, and dispose of properties to promote industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing and industrial enterprises to locate in or remain in Montgomery County-Blacksburg-Christiansburg, Virginia.   It also has the authority to issue industrial revenue bonds to be used in financing the acquisition, construction or equipping of various types of facilities in Montgomery County-Blacksburg-Christiansburg.        

MBC Development Corporation

The Montgomery-Blacksburg-Christiansburg (MBC) Development Corporation is a local, non-profit, community development corporation. It was created to enhance and broaden the employment base in Montgomery County by providing small business with low interest loans not available from conventional sources. The recipients of MBC loans are small businesses that are deemed to have potential growth and success in their area of expertise or specialization. Typically, the loan period is five years or less, making it a short-term loan. The amount of the loan is determined by need and availability of funds (generally $50,000 to $75,000). Repayment terms generally require monthly or quarterly payments of principal and interest

Montgomery County Economic Development Commission

The Montgomery Regional Economic Development Commission (EDC) was created on January 4, 1982, by a resolution of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. The EDC serves as an advisory council for the the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors on economic development matters.

These individuals serve as conduits to their respective organizations, sharing information, suggestions, and ideas between the Commission and their institutions. With this type of representation, the Commission has truly become a public/private partnership concerned with initiating, coordinating, and facilitating economic development efforts for the purpose of achieving and maintaining a superior quality of life in Montgomery County-Blacksburg-Christiansburg.
